(Wikipedia link for you non-Flash-types). The Delaney clan has been a big fan of the show since it began. I’m thrilled to be writing this post after receiving an unexpected tweet from @yogabbagabba.

I best describe the show as if Dee Light’s Groove is in the Heart video was filmed by The Electric Company, with some friendly aliens added in for good measure. Yes, it’s THAT awesome!

A bit of back story

Back in 1999 I saw a pilot episode of a television show that was killed before it ever had a chance called Heat Vision and Jack.

The story of a man and his talking motorcycle. Jack Austin (played by Jack Black), an ex-astronaut who got too close to the sun and, by the power of the yellow sun, becomes the smartest human being alive. Heat Vision is the unfortunate combination of Jack Austin’s former roommate and his motorcycle. Ron Silver, also an ex-astronaut and part-time actor, has the job of taking out Jack Austin. – Morpheus0364

This weekend, I was watching an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba! with my kids, with Jack Black as the guest. The opening scene involved Jack getting lost as his talking motorcycle ran out of gas. Talking motorcycle? Jack Black?

I laughed out loud as I made the connection between the episode of the popular kids show and the one hit wonder from eleven years ago (a hit in my mind at least).

So I tweeted my discovery on Twitter and I was pleased as punch when I got my reply!

Yo Gabba Gabba!

All of this is so cool, because Rob Schrab wrote the original pilot episode of Heat Vision and Jack. Rob ended up voicing the talking motorcycle in the episode of Yo Gabba Gabba!

Kudos to @yogabbagabba for replying to me. I really appreciate that you did. I am also appreciative to a show that not only combines great talent with incredible writers. Thanks for entertaining my family!

The game was close, but football isn’t really my thing. I must say that I’m thrilled that New Orleans won though. No offense Indianapolis, but I’ve never been there before.

The backchannel Twitter chatter was more about the advertising and halftime show than the game itself, which suited me fine. We all used the #brandbowl hashtag to follow the commentary and jokes during the breaks.

Overall the famously over-priced commercials were nothing to write home about, however three did stand out to me. Here they are:

The tweets cracked me up over this spot. Rex Hammock wrote: I wonder if Google found its ad agency by googling “ad agency”, and Chris Pirillo tweeted: Sweet new search engine Google – found out about them on a Super Bowl Commercial. Looks VERY promising.
You guys kill me!

The Kia one was my favorite, it reminded me of my recent road trip to Las Vegas. I am also a fan of Yo Gabba Gabba!, so it was appealing right away when I saw Muno.
