I really enjoyed listening to some of my social media peers on the most recent Six Pixels of Separation. Mitch Joel had a great idea of inviting friends, Chris Brogan and Julien Smith to chat in a new podcast. I’m excited to see what comes from this, because it’s like a TWiT or The Gillmor Gang (both shows that I enjoy), except this is with people I know personally and respect.
Part of the conversation moved to the topic of Twitter squatters. It reminded me of how important it is to ensure you own your name on social networks, including Twitter.
Here’s a tip, use this free service to see if your name is being used: www.usernamecheck.com. Don’t be too overwhelmed, you may not feel the need to register yourself everywhere. It’s a great way to be sure nobody has scooped your name, it’s also very valuable if you’re a marketer to ensure your product and company name is secure.
Upcoming episodes of Mitch’s new podcast (called Media Hacks?) will include other incredible guests and friends, C.C. Chapman, Hugh McGuire and Chris Penn. Who knows, maybe Mitch will even invite yours truly some time (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
