Hi, I’m Dave Delaney.
I’m a blogger, community enthusiast, social media strategist, marketing & promotions fella. I’m founder of Geek Breakfast & Nashcocktail. I am also co-founder of BarCamp Nashville and PodCamp Nashville.
Work
I’m responsible for digital marketing with an emphasis on social media and online promotions for Griffin Technology in Nashville, TN. This site is in no way affiliated with Griffin (but you knew that already, right?).
Before Griffin, I worked as New Media Manager with Emma email marketing. In Toronto, I worked with Mirvish Productions, Toronto Star and Global Television, all positions were in marketing management and promotions.
I can be found on LinkedIn, if you would like to connect with me there.
Events
In August, 2007, I co-founded and organized BarCamp Nashville and in March, 2008, I co-founded PodCamp Nashville. I also founded Geek Breakfast and Nashcocktail.
All of these events are related to growing and nurturing Nashville’s technology community.
Speaking
I’ve spoken at many events and conferences about digital marketing like: South by Southwest; American Marketing Association, Nashville; Nashville Chamber of Commerce; Belmont University; Vanderbilt University; Digital Music Summit; PodCamp Toronto; among others.
I’ve shared panels with social media marketing experts like C.C. Chapman, Chris Brogan, Loic LeMeur and Saul Colt.
I love to speak about social media and new marketing. Are you interested in learning more?
Me
I first connected online in the mid 1980′s on local 416 bulletin boards (BBS). I even ran my own BBS during the wee hours of the night, when our phone line was free.
In 1998, I met my wife Heather, in Galway Ireland. I started Ireland’s first social networking site called Spotted Galway soon after.
When we moved back to Toronto, we got pregnant with our first (and then second) child. I produced and co-hosted a popular Internet radio show about parenting. Two Boobs and a Baby was featured by Yahoo! Podcasts, selected as a staff pick in iTunes, and received coverage in USA Today, Globe and Mail and the Jackson Sun. The show ran from 2005 – 2008.
I’ve been blogging about life, marketing and social media since August 4, 2005.
Say Hello!
I’m a pretty friendly guy, why not connect with me on Twitter? Don’t forget to follow me, so we can direct message each other too. I also can be found on Facebook (I love your “likes”) and LinkedIn.
I guess I should finish off this About page with a link to what nice people have said about me. I’ll use this spot to boast about my recent American Marketing Association award too.
Oh, and don’t forget to contact me with any questions, comments or anything else for that matter.
