Dave Delaney is a community enthusiast, new marketing professional and social media maven from Toronto now calling Nashville his home. He works in Griffin Technology’s marketing department as social media coordinator.
Dave first connected online in the mid 1980’s on local bulletin boards. In 2001, he created Spotted Galway, Ireland’s first social networking site. He began blogging and podcastng in 2005 when he launched the first Canadian parenting podcast, Two Boobs and a Baby, which ran for three years.
Dave worked in marketing and promotions for Mirvish Productions, Canada’s largest live theater producers; Global Television; and Canada’s most read newspaper, the Toronto Star.
Delaney has been featured in articles in USA Today, Globe and Mail, Jackson Sun, Nashville Business Journal and Tennessean.
Since moving to Nashville in 2007, Dave co-founded the first BarCamp Nashville and PodCamp Nashville. In 2007, he started Geek Breakfast which continues monthly and has spawned international versions based on his idea.

You can go into settings and uncheck boxes that notify when you've unlocked a badge or become Mayor, etc. I did that because I felt I was spamming my Twitter and Facebook streams too much. I still share my location.
I had to do something similar last year. I update my Twitter status a lot, and it was being sent to my Facebook feed. I got some complaints from genuine friends, and I figured it was worth it to disconnect my Twitter feed from my Facebook feed.

Yes, it's a great feature.
I have two Tumblogs. One is for my daughter (3 weeks old). We post pictures and updates so family and friends can see her grow up. Easy to do with the iPhone when we're out an about. A friend (who is location independent) and I also share one to post links, quotes, etc. We each read lots of different blogs, so it's better than sharing in a reader or emailing.

I've been working on a personal theory for a while, which is this: No matter how old or young you are when you die, you'll feel like you've led a complete life.
I suppose it's a corollary to the NPR story.
Nerd alert: This also ties into the whole JRR Tolkien/Middle Earth thing about the multi-hundred-year-old elves feeling like the lifetime of a human was barely more than the blink of an eye. Which I suppose just shows that Tolkien understood the principle as well as we do.
I was just having this conversation with someone else yesterday. It's amazing how, when I was younger, I would sit and stare at the clock in a classroom and time would move so incredibly slowly. Now I only wish I could spend an hour staring at a clock. My days get away from me quicker and quicker each day. That's a very cool experiment, BTW. I'll give it a try when I get home.

Dave, I know that life seemed to really speed up for me when I got out of college. My theory is that in our younger years our lives are pretty much wrapped up in school and school activities. Everything doing with school is measured. Which classes you have that day, how many hours are you carrying a week, how many semesters you have to go in college, etc.
Time for us at that point is measured so we are more aware of it. Once you get out of school these measurements are now gone so we have nothing to base our time on. Interesting stuff, will be nice to see everyones takes in your comments.
