I’m not a Klout advocate, but I recognize that more companies are turning to it as a metric. like it or not.
I agree 100% that a person can’t be judged on Klout entirely. But if the role is in digital marketing I would be curious why their Klout score was below 30.
More and more brands are using Klout for rewards. You can bet some are also using it in their call centers.

Opting out of Klout being dangerous and damaging to a brand’s perception of me reminds me of the urban legend about the scruffy looking guy who walks into the high end car dealership in Yorkville… we know how the story ends.

Also when we were hiring our team last year we placed maybe 5% (I’m questioning that number as I type) weight in the selection process. There may have been candidates who may have had high Klout scores but we were looking more for how they managed their personal brand and community, how they would fit within our strategy, and how they’d stick handle a crisis. The latter being something a Klout score can’t demonstrate.

The trick for me is that I use separate email addresses for blogging vs. personal stuff, so I wonder how many companies I do business with are even aware of my Klout score. I may have to change that if I want to get some VIP treatment!
