Twestival Nashville

charity : waterIf you’re on Twitter and you haven’t heard about @twestival yet, you may be following the wrong people. My Austin geek gal comrade, Michelle Greer, sent me a message a while ago about the popular Twitter Festival: Twestival.

On 12 February 2009 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

The Twestival is organized 100% by volunteers in cities around the world and 100% of the money raised from these events will go directly to support charity: water projects.

charity: water is a non profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations by funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need.

I’m really happy to inform you that @nashvillest have stepped to the plate to organize the Nashville Twestival.

They wrote:

Our specific needs right now are: VOLUNTEERS, a venue, performers, sponsors to donate prizes and food (and drinks, wink wink!), graphic design for some promo materials and a logo, printing for posters and flyers, and friends who will spread the word far and wide, beyond the crowd that we can reach by ourselves. Again, email with your ideas.

Let’s show the rest of the world how cool we tweetin’ folk are in Nashville!

I think it'd be really cool if the different cities hooked up thought some video link too like UStream. So Nashville could see what's going on in other cities, they could see what's going on here etc….

Very cool idea. You should shoot it over to Nashvillest to consider.

I will probably go, but not tell the people that don't understand.

I'm not sure I follow. For non Twitterer folks, I recommend selling it
as a charity concert, which it is.

Yes. I was just saying my friends think I twitter too much already, so if I tell them I'm going to a twestival, they may think I've gone off the deep end and joined a twitter cult, but I'll explain it the best I can ;)
