Put the kids to bed early, I’m coming home drunk …
The title of this post is a Homer Simpson quote, but it’s the first thing I thought about when writing it. The post is actually about being home alone and O’Death.
It’s not very often that I find myself at home alone for the weekend. Heather is heading off with the kids to her sister’s place, which leaves me flying solo. I always plan on spending times like this being productive and I usually am, too productive. I end up staying up way too late working, then I wake up at the usual 7ish, because that’s what I’m accustomed to (damn you body clock!). I end up being more sleep deprived than usual and that ain’t right, especially from working.
I have been seriously craving live music lately. In my youth I would see several bands every week, so withdrawl occurs from time to time. I’ve decided to get a fix of a good, small, crowded live show.
I poked around the tubes and found that a band called O’Death (and others) are playing The Basement on Friday night. I liked the name straight away, but I’ve never heard or seen them before. I checked out their MySpace page and am impressed with their unique sound, so I plan to see the show. The full listing of the show can be found here.
Want to join me? Let me know, they look awesome.

The concert is part of the Americana Music Festival. You can buy tickets for $15 at the door, they recommend you be there by 7pm. Or your can purchase a wristband for $35 at Grimey’s (upstairs from the venue) to get in any of the shows this weekend. They also mentioned that wristbands will get preference over regular ticket folk like me. Hope to see you at the show.
