Help! My Twitter account has been suspended for no reason!

Help! It appears my Twitter profile is no more. I’d really love to know what happened, and I’m wondering if anyone else has heard about this issue.

Here’s what happened. I tried to log in, but I kept getting the “That Page Doesn’t Exist” blue bird. It’s bizarre, because I can still see my page under replies, but I can’t post a tweet.

After submitting the problem on the Twitter bug page, I received a prompt to enter my user name and password. I entered the details and it said my account has been suspended due to a violation of the Terms of Service. I don’t know of anything that I did to breach the TOS, but I am naturally very concerned about this.

If you know @biz or @ev, or any of the Twitter crew, I would sincerely appreciate you letting them know that one of their biggest fans has been locked out without warning. Help.

UPDATE: @conniecrosby, @pfanderson, @pknit and @tibbon have also been suspended without reason.

Dude my account was suspended sometime back as well. Ever since that I gave up on that company. The worst thing is that nobody explained or told me what happened.

I could not get my old tweets back but I was able to get my tweeter name back which was really important to me and this is how.: you still get access to you settings so go in and change your tweet name to something else this will put your old tweet name back in the data base and can be reused now go instantly and sign up another twitter account with your original name and bingo you are back in business.

What is that -there is no true definition that makes any logical sense - if what it is is true then ALL accounts should be suspended including Guy Kawasaki - I have exploded with followers by providing some interested information - content relevant to who we are as a business and the following we have

Hey, I just saw the Brightkite notes in my Gmail account [I'm still not getting txt updates from them for some reason]. I sent @twitter a msg about you & @pfanderson. Neither one of your pages "exist" according to the birdie. Hopefully you'll be restored soon. @tibbon's page says it took a bit of complaining & cajoling.

I think @skalik got hit too although its only an assumption ( I don't think she'd delete her acct). I'm shocked that status.twitter.com hasn't got anything about this period. i guess deleting users isn't notable.

now I'm having an odd bug that i'm following no one, can 'see' all of them in the timeline, and yet... can't follow anyone back, so no one can DM me. Very strange.

That IS strange. Is Twitter crumbling tonight?
It's ironic that Twitter billed themselves as a "Communication Tool", yet
they can't communicate with their own users.

Thanks, Dave! I only just discovered it this morning when trying to get back on. And I had no warning. I have no idea how I was breaking the terms of service either, but haven't been told that was the reason. I had over 1500 followers and was following almost as many, just over 1400. That was from a year and a half of twitter use, over 9,000 tweets.

I accidentally sent a tweet via email which seems to have reinstated the account under my name, but have lost everything.

Thanks for posting on this...I was offline for 18 hours and had no idea this had happened until this morning.

I had over 1,500 followers as well. I feel completely at a loss, dare
I say depressed about it.

For others reading this, imagine someone cutting off your email
account. You have no backup of the messages or your address book. How
will you ever get this all back?

We put a lot of trust in the people behind our favorite social network
sites. In this case I have received no explanation from Twitter. This
saddens and scares me.

Just happened to me! Came back home after a long day and thought I might check on what happened with my Twitter friends while I was away...
Found an e-mail in my inbox saying I should reset my password because I had supposedly forgotten the correct one. I did as I was asked, logged in only to be told then that my account was suspended. No explanation. Just suspended it.
I did nothing to justify this. The 50 odd spammers that have started following me in the past month are still happily roaming on Twitter. My account is suspended. P*ssed off doesn't begin to cover what I feel.

Sorry to hear you both have been suspended.
The only thing I can recommend is opening a ticket with Twitter. You should
also go to www.getsatisfaction.com and search for Twitter.

This is ashame it's still happening.

You can also try finding friends on plurk.com and identi.ca who may be able
to help you.

I also was suspended as of July 30th. My account was hacked. My twitter friends & I have submitted multiple emails to have it reinstated......but other then the auto reply responses......I got nothing.

I'm pretty pissed.

I started to follow someone that was following me and they were in violation of Twitter rules so that suspended my account. They didn't have any info on their profile page so I didn't no they were doing anythig wrong. I lost all my friends too and I didn't do anything to violate the rules. I'm so pissed I used Twitter everyday, all day. I sent a complaint and was informed my accound could be suspended for 30 days while they investagate. What a bummer!!!!!

Thank you very much for the info. I did send them a couple of e mails with no response besides the automated one. I have set up another account for now but will keep looking into getting my old one restored. I've noticed that all my followers and those I followed are now gone. Thanks Dawn. I think it's odd that your followers are gone. I haven't seen
that occur before.
I looked at your account and recommend a couple of things. Never follow more
people than the number following you, that looks odd to Twitter and users.
It can come off that you're a spammer.

Also, use a link to where we can find you in your bio. Link to your company
or your personal blog.
