Phanfare looks like a great alternative for easy to use photo sharing. I'm also a big fan of Picasa, but for sharing photos through tags and across multiple platforms, I'm still a Flickr fan. The quality of the images on the actual site could be improved slightly but for showing friends & family and ensuring minimal work for myself...nothing comes close. In the end, I came up with the following method of sharing pictures of our 20-month-old: 1. E-mail low res images 2. Post those same images to our private gallery (a customized free photo gallery that is hacked together with a free message board) 3. Include hi-res images in the "extras" folder on our annual (2nd this year) family DVD so they're available for printing It’s easier for friends/family, but a bit more work for me. If I was starting now, I think I'd use Flickr and deal with the initial hassle of helping people create accounts. The process isn’t hard, but I’m in the same boat as Bernie.
