Thanks Zee. Phanfare looks like a great alternative for easy to use photo sharing.

I'm also a big fan of Picasa, but for sharing photos through tags and across multiple platforms, I'm still a Flickr fan. Perhaps, it's also because I'm a Pro user, which means I'm paying for my pleasure.

Cheers,
Dave

I highly recommend phanfare.com - i've been using it for a good couple years now and has never let me down. The quality of the images on the actual site could be improved slightly but for showing friends & family and ensuring minimal work for myself...nothing comes close. I do use flickr but mainly just to show off :)

The process isn't hard, but I’m in the same boat as Bernie. In the end, I came up with the following method of sharing pictures of our 20-month-old:

1. E-mail low res images

2. Post those same images to our private gallery (a customized free photo gallery that is hacked together with a free message board)

3. Include hi-res images in the "extras" folder on our annual (2nd this year) family DVD so they're available for printing

It’s easier for friends/family, but a bit more work for me. If I was starting now, I think I'd use Flickr and deal with the initial hassle of helping people create accounts.

Thanks for the comment Bernie. Perhaps my little tutorial will help them understand. I would have done it in my best Irish accent had I known.

Slainte,

I have the same issue--close family members who want to see our new-born but don't understand how Flickr works. Yet there are more than 24m active users of Flickr who get it.
