To tweet or not to tweet? Vote for Twitter, Jaiku or Pownce here.

By | October 10, 2007

Microblogging platform, Jaiku, announced today that Google has acquired them. The news had my Twitter friends in a tizzy yesterday discussing the implications of such a move. Will everyone suddenly migrate to Jaiku from Twitter? Will they stick with Twitter since that’s where their friends already are? Will they surprise us all and jump over to Pownce?

Time will tell. For now will you please vote to let me know what you plan to do? It will be a great way for us to see what the majority are choosing to do.

Here’s how I can help you?

There’s no option for “whichever one has the most (relevant) people using it”. That’s what I’d vote for. I like Jaiku’s features, but most of the people I want to talk with are still on Twitter. So, at the moment – Twitku!

Ditto on Darrin. As married as I am to Twitter, (And that’s a LOT) I’d never say Twitter has “won” because all we are over there are the early adopters. It could go mainstream on any platform. Whichever one cracks the code!

I’ve never drunk the Pownce kool-aid, and while I was persuaded earlier this year to get on Jaiku, I still stay on Twitter, because that’s where most of the conversation and community is.

And I’m an Evan Williams fanboy.

I despise Twitter because when it burps, it pukes all over my phone’s inbox. But that’s because I take my microblog info directly as text messages and Jaiku’s reliability kicks Twitter’s ass into the next county in the realibility stakes. Your mileage may vary.

@Darrin: I prefer Twitter right now, but that’s also because that’s where everyone I know is.

@Laura: True dat sister! I wish Twitter would fix the code, so that it stays up constantly.

@Daniel: I’m on Jaiku and Pownce. I like the “look” of Pownce, but if users don’t download it then it’s not going to run. I prefer the web based applications of Twitter and Jaiku.

@Bernie: Wow, that was colorful :-) I hear you on the mobility factor. Mobility, I believe is the vary reason why Google bought Jaiku.

    Cheers guys.
