How to share your music collection and tune in from the office.

For the longest time I wanted to be able to access my music @ home from the office. I use to use Orb.com when I was on Windows, but the connection was often slow or clunky. Then I switched to lala.com which I still use from time to time. Lala is great if you’re on someone else’s computer and don’t have the time (or the access) to download anything. If your company is behind a massive firewall Lala is the way to go. If you’re able to download, you use iTunes, and you want to share your music, you should switch to Simplify Media.

What I love about Simplfy Media is that you can share your music with anybody you invite. It’s an awesome way to tap into new music. It also protects the music, so if piracy is a concern you need not look any further.

Let me know if you’d like an invite to my iTunes music. My tastes range from punk rock to blues, from folk to hip hop. You should find some stuff you’ll love, possibly stuff you hate too. Drop me a comment.

Cheers,
Dave

    I’d also highly recommend Vibestreamer…
    http://www.vibestreamer.com/

Have been using it for a good year now streaming to work or hotel rooms wherever I am (since it’s brower-based).

  • Thanks Trevor. I haven’t used Vibestreamer before. Have you compared it to the others?

    Cheers.

I had only very briefly tried Orb (too big a footprint) when I stumbled onto Vibestreamer…it fit my needs and so I haven’t looked back. I’m also not an iTunes guy so my needs are different than some. Most of my streaming is to listen to podcasts so I don’t concern w/ playlists much either. Much like Simplify Media I would presume, you can also allow others to listen to your stream…just need to provide them w/ the user/pswd.

er, sorry, should have double checked it supported Mac, which it doesn’t. Win and Linux though…Simplify Media and Vibestreamer seem pretty similar.
